So much to talk about today that I'm not sure I'll get to it all, but here goes...
Took the family into Sioux City today and hit up the mall. At various places (B&N and FYE) I found the following:
1) The new issue of Guitar World
2) Alanis Morissette's VH1 Storytellers DVD
3) Tiger Suit by KT Tunstall
4) Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
5) There's No Leaving Now by The Tallest Man On Earth
The Tallest Man On Earth record was an in-store play before I left B&N that I really loved and just never got around to buying. The KT Tunstall record I've wanted to pick up for a long time, and when it was $3.99, I figured why not. As for Time Out, with Brubeck passing late last year, I looked around and realized I didn't own a copy of that record.
Probably the best part of the day, however, was the ride into Sioux City. My brother and I got to chill and talk music in the back of the van. It was everything from practice routines to songwriting with some great stories from his college experiences (i.e. a lecture series given by Branford Marsalis) thrown in for good measure. It was exactly the kind of discussion I need to have more often.
The only bummer part of the day was that we ran out of time for a proposed jam session once we got back into town. Time just has a way of escaping that way. Guess more conversing will need to happen over Skype.
