I sat down tonight with a legal pad and a guitar and finally blocked out the lines in the verses and the choruses for the song this month.
On top of that, I think I've got the structure (how many verses, how many choruses, etc.) nailed down as well. Considering where I was a couple of days ago, this feels like big time progress. I'm not sure that it really is big time progress for the following reasons:
1) I Haven't done any recording yet.
2) The bass line still only exists in my head.
3) No lyrics yet.
And yet, somehow, I'm still feeling pretty good right now. I'm starting to hear the finished product in my head. I hear that as-yet to be recorded bass line starting the song off, the electric part coming in next, and then the verses kicking off.
Regardless of how far I am right now, as long as I get something down on tape by the end of the month, I'll feel like January was successful. If only because it showed me what it's going to take to get things accomplished in this plan.
Did I get as much done as I wanted to today? No. But I never do. I still feel like I'm getting somewhere.
