With a golden opportunity to get some serious practicing done this afternoon, did I drop the ball? Nope. Well, not entirely anyway. I definitely did some playing today, but the result wasn't exactly the electric blues I had been expecting when the day began.
No, instead, I sat with the acoustic and, after an initial idea got me on my feet, I sat and tinkered with it during a phone conversation with a friend who needed a chance to vent. I'm really digging what I ended up with, right now it's a fairly straightforward 3 chord progression, but I'll be the first to admit that it leans at least little bit close to some of the poppier stuff I've been listening to the last couple of weeks.
The cool part is that I found a bit of a bass line for it too. Need to drag the bass out from the corner one of these days, lay down some bottom end, see if things take off from there. I'm starting to hear things in my head that are, if not quite full, definitely more complex arrangements than just a vocal and a guitar part. That stuff is exciting. It means that some of my musical mojo might be coming back to me. We'll see if that theory continues to hold water tomorrow.
