Got through 9/10 of the new Justin Townes Earle record today. It's a fast record, not in tempo, but in the amount of time it takes to listen to it. A quieter record than Harlem River Blues, and less of a complete statement than that album was. Nonetheless, it feels like the record fits in his canon, but more-so as a transitional record. It makes me excited for whatever it is that happens next in his career.
Finished up Guitar Zero today as well. A really cool book, even if it wasn't quite what the blurbs on the inside flap described it as. It wound up being more about the science of learning than it did about Mr. Marcus' journey into music. Nonetheless, I'm glad I picked it up. It definitely provided some sense of confidence that I can put toward what I'm trying to do.
I go in to work at noon tomorrow. That gives me the morning to sort through things in the morning and find a place to get a jump on the Clapton and the practice that I need to work in that will make me a better player by the end of the year.
