Day One (Year Six)

So, we spent a good portion of today on the road to Northwest Iowa.

That may not have left a lot of time for the playing side of things as I start year six of blogging, but it definitely let me do some listening. I finally got a chance to check out the new Nate Ruess record, and it's as full of Queen references and big production values as I was expecting it to be. He has said that the writing process started with the intent to make the third fun. album, and so I had a good time trying to guess which songs were initially slated for the band.

I can tell that Jack Antonoff helps to smooth out some of Nate's rough edges, but while I didn't hear a ton of singles, I heard what can only be described as an album.

I think that tomorrow will be a better day for playing, but I was still grateful to be able to spend at least a few minutes in the studio before we left this morning. Something tells me that the next year is going to be a great one.
