I undertook the tough part of the binder prep. today: I sorted through the guitar magazines that had accumulated in my hall closet, searching for anything that might hold a key to further learning. Also, I was searching for all of Richard Lloyd's Alchemical Guitarist columns, as I want to include them in the binder. Apparently, Guitar World has produced a couple of DVDs chronicling Lloyd's columns, so it might be beneficial for me to hunt those down as well.
Side note: I'd really like to find some Brian Setzer stuff to include. I've got a book on his technique, but his rockabilly/swing style fascinates me. Maybe video would come in handy there too.
Lloyd's columns ran from August of 2007 to sometime in 2009. If anyone can pinpoint and end-date on those (or, technically, a going-on-hiatus date), they would be doing better than I. I'm pretty sure I'm missing an issue in there somewhere, but if worst comes to worst, I can always contact GW and order a back issue to get the one I'm missing.
What that means is that I haven't yet sat down and finished off the note sheets I had left unfinished last year. It also means that I haven't copied the Berklee stuff to throw in the beginning.
I did, however, watch the first half of that Pearl Jam documentary. Really cool so far. Definitely worth owning (and already on my list of ideas given to my brother for Christmas). The customer that loaned it to me runs a printing company. It occurs to me now that I should ask him what the best way is to copy articles from magazines and not have that half-folded over look on the side with the binding. How I'll get around that is something I've wondered about all week.
I sat with the acoustic this morning, too. Found a few interesting chords. I doubt they are connected in any concrete sort of way, though. We'll see what happens there.
Also, not sure if I've mentioned this yet, but I heard back from J. Apparently, it is a power supply issue that has his mixer down. Currently, he's anticipating a slightly post-Christmas return to studio functionality, so that's good news.
