Tonight was... not an "off" night by any means, but a night I thought was going to head in a certain direction that instead went somewhere else entirely. It started out to be a continuation of the last couple of nights, where I would spend a lot of it trying to put together the ideas for the hard rock project. Instead, it wound up a night filled with a set of plans that changed, and a music documentary.
One of the things that fascinates me about music is the process behind the creation of it. That said, a music movie or a documentary about a band or album is always guaranteed to hold my attention. I had wanted to spend most of my night playing, but instead found myself watching a doc on U2 and "The Joshua Tree." Watching that made me want to do two things:
1) Break out that album again (I have it on vinyl)
2) Watch "It Might Get Loud" again, as that movie features The Edge
Also, I think it's important when working on any project, to get in touch with what others who have stood in your shoes before have accomplished, and the way in which they did so.
Besides that, it put me in the mood to listen to some U2. Specifically, the version of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" from Rattle & Hum. That's the version with the big gospel choir. Transcendent. Absolutely transcendent.
