So, as fate would have it, the whole "match the riff with the progression" thing didn't work quite as smoothly as I had hoped it would. I have this bad habit of trying to put two wholly separate things together and make them one, and I really need to knock it the hell off. If I could find a way to stop doing that, maybe I'd find I have about twice as many flickers that deserve to be turned into songs, be they good or not so good.
Granted, I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel on the whole notion quite yet, but in reality what I ought to be focused on is fleshing out all of the possibilities on their own merits before I try fitting together pieces that might not match up.
I know that I ought to have patience, because patience and progress come to those who wait, but I'm tired of waiting. More moving forward needs to be happening!
