That didn't take long. Got a response from J. in regards to the tracks I sent out yesterday. It was as follows: Excellent. Still trying to figure out the verses?
To a certain extent, yeah, I am still trying to figure out the verses. One part of me thinks they should just be acoustic, but that same part of me thinks that, if this is the case, the acoustic part that's there is wrong. The other part of me sees clean electric verses as an option. This may be the more practical part of me, as I can see a situation where, live, we'd need to do the clean electric thing to make it work. I'll try it with the clean electric in the next couple of days and send him the results. See if that might allow us to pull the acoustic part all together. If we're not careful here, we might just be able to work on a different song sometime soon.
The other news of the day: All my stuff finally came in at work! Well, okay, not the Miles Zuniga record, but I just ordered that yesterday. So. On some level, it killed me to drop $78 this close to rent being due, but considering what I added to my collection, I got a pretty sweet deal, here (again) is the list:
Mike Doughty
- Skittish/Rockity Roll
- Haughty Melodic
- Golden Delicious
- Sad Man, Happy Man
- Yes & Also Yes
Also picked up were:
1) Eddie & The Cruisers (novel) by P.F. Kluge
2) Eddie & The Cruisers/Eddie & The Cruisers II (DVD)
All music related, and a pretty good haul for $78 bucks if you ask me.
I'm listening to some of the Mike Doughty as I import it into itunes. And I was right. It's really cool. Music does this thing where it lifts me up when it grabs my soul, and just hearing new stuff that's interesting and acoustic is doing that to me. It's as if my other side (the non-loud rock band side) is being served. That's the side of me that likes quirky acoustic music with pop-ish leanings, just in case you were curious.
It's why, somewhere inside of me, is a solo acoustic record.
